Details for Berawa →Two villas a kilometre apart can need entirely different treatment, because the island's water sources do not follow district lines. Around Canggu, Berawa and Pererenan most homes pump private wells sunk into rice-field aquifers: iron and manganese are the usual companions, staining tubs orange and giving laundry a metallic edge, and every construction season stirs fresh sediment into neighbouring bores. Systems there start with serious sediment and iron-handling stages long before any drinking-water polish.
Ubud sits on volcanic slopes fed by springs and shallow wells. The water often looks pristine yet carries limestone hardness that furs a kettle within weeks, and its biological picture flips in the wet season when surface runoff reaches the sources — the reason UV sterilisation earns its place there more often than anywhere else on the island. Down south the story inverts: Kuta, Sanur, Nusa Dua and much of Jimbaran run on PDAM mains, so bacteria are rarely the issue; chlorine taste, ageing-pipe sediment and pressure drops are, and a carbon stage plus an under-sink RO usually settles all three. Out on the Uluwatu limestone shelf, deep bores flirt with seawater intrusion — TDS climbs, taste turns faintly brackish, and only reverse osmosis brings it back to neutral.
This is why our first question is never "which package" but "what source, which street". A tap-side test takes minutes and is free with a site visit, and it decides where your money should actually go: iron removal, scale control, sterilisation or a simple carbon polish. Pick your area above for the local picture, or message us with the street and source type and we will tell you what your neighbours' water usually shows.
